Magnum Workshop New York

The Magnum Workshop New York is a five day intensive, practice oriented workshop that seeks to provide personal photographic growth in an intimate and intensive environment. Each of the five-day workshops will be led by an accomplished Magnum Photographer, each with their own distinctive style and approach to photography. Each workshop will have a maximum of 12 participants.

The workshops will take place at New York’s premiere photography studio, MILK Studios, located in the heart of Chelsea and the arts district. Each facility will be fully equipped with wifi, a computer workstation, a projector and printers. In addition, as a global center for photography, New York City offers a wide panorama of photographic subjects, locations and ideas.

The Magnum Workshop New York offers subject-specific seminars and lectures and ample informal time allowing for cross-pollination and networking between students and instructors. Additional Magnum photographers will also participate in lectures and enhance each workshop by providing a different point of view on photography and its practices. Participants will produce individual projects under the same constraints as a professional assignment, but with daily review and editing sessions within their groups. Focusing on story formation, visual literacy, and personal vision, these intimate, intensive classes form the center of the Magnum Workshop experience. Prior to the workshop, each accepted applicant will be sent specific directives from their selected workshop leader.

The following Magnum Photographers will be leading the workshops:
Alex Webb (with Rebecca Norris Webb)
Bruce Gilden
Alessandra Sanguinetti

Workshops are now full.
