Face of Asia

Face of Asia
“Face of Asia: Steve McCurry Photographs” was organized by George Eastman House International Museum of Photography and Film and features 100 images from Afghanistan, Tibet, Cambodia, and India. Central Florida Community College will present the unparalleled work of Steve McCurry at the Webber Center Gallery.
McCurry — best known for his 1985 photograph of the Afghan girl with piercing green eyes — has shot for Time, Newsweek, and National Geographic. He made headlines in 2002 when he returned to Afghanistan to find the green-eyed girl 17 years later.
“Most of my photos are grounded in people,” McCurry has said. “I look for the unguarded moment, the essential soul peeking out, experience etched on a person’s face.”
Molly Moody, exhibits coordinator of the Webber Center Gallery, said: “This is an incredible opportunity for the college and community to view the work of such an accomplished journalist, photographer and artist. McCurry offers us glimpses into fascinating locales, allowing the viewer to take a visual journey that they may never get to experience in person.”
