Universally recognized as one of the best image-makers today, McCurry is a U.S. journalist and the photographer of the famous Afghan Girl portrait. McCurry covered many areas of conflict including the Iran-Iraq war, the disintegration of Yugoslavia, Beirut, Cambodia, the Gulf War, China and continuous coverage of the situation in Afghanistan.
